candied orange...

This morning, I went to buy some cheeses at Whole Foods. I wanted to buy candied orange, but it was very expensive. Candied orange is not difficult to make and I had some oranges at home. Why not make my own and save some money. :D

- 1 orange
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water

1. Peel the skin and cut into 1/4" strips wide.
2. Blanch in fresh water 3 times to remove some of the bitterness from the pith.
3. Cook sugar and water to 230 degrees F.
4. Add the strips, simmer until the strips get translucent.
5. Drain and roll in sugar.

Another reason that I didn't buy it from store was there were too much sugar on it--expensive plus didn't look right.
