Surprisingly, Popsicle was accidental invented by 11 year-old boy who was born in San Francisco. Since then, Popsicle has been the coolest frozen treat around for more than a century. I can see why. Here's a fun recipe and perfect treat to enjoy during the summer season.
Ingredients:
makes 4
- 100 g water
- 10 g basil seeds
- 150 g water
- 150 g elderflower syrup
Preparation:
1. Soak the seeds with the 100 g of water, set aside.
2. Bring water and syrup to a boil.
3. Add the syrup to the seeds. Stir well.
4. Pour the mixture into molds, freeze.

Okay I've been gone from home too long. What are these seeds called in Thai again?
I used to call them Med Look Odd, you know, the tadpole seeds. LOL.
looks almost out of this world, like a popsickle an astronaut would have on space shuttle
Thanks, Jane Ko.
Oak, it's med mang luk in Thai (เมล็ดแมงลัก). I know it looks like frog's eggs. ^^
Jelena, you can call it frogilicious...lol
So cool!!! Love your photography! I hope you will submit this (and more) to http://www.FindingVegan.com

When I was living in China there were a few cafes that sound drinks with Thai basil seeds in them. It was as though Thai basil seed drinks were the next bubble teas. I think in Southeast Asia the drinks with basil seeds are more traditional.
This is so interesting! I wonder how it tastes! Very creative though!
Would you mind checking out my blog? :D http://ajscookingsecrets.blogspot.com/
Wow! What an interesting popsicle! Looks crazy but cool :)
Basil seeds are used to add texture to drinks and desserts. The texture is like a jelly with tiny crunchy in center. They're flavorless. They need to be soaked in water first.
Wow, these look so refreshing I cannot wait to check them out for myself, but as its foggy and chilly in my part of SF, I'll be saving that for another day.
AWESOME !
This looks so interesting, have never even heard of basil seeds! I'm assuming it tastes like basil? If so, this must be a very refreshing popsicle.
That looks so cool Thip! Perfect for summer time in the states I guess? It's so cold here..
I have the same popsicle molds - funny how we have so many of the same things! Glad to see you found use for the elderflower syrup!
the elderflower syrup was a great use in this recipe, laura. :)
